Features & Benefits

Versatile windrow sizes

The RR140 rotary rake is capable of making windrows at a minimum of 16-in (40.6-cm) wide and up to 3-ft (.9-m) wide, depending on the volume of the crop. With 11 arms, each equipped with four double tines, the RR140 is gentle on the crop and allows for air flow through the windrows for quicker dry down.

Efficient components for quality output

Hydraulic lift and rake adjustments help ensure operators can get up and over windrows and minimize ash content getting raked into the windrow. Two lift cylinders work off of the same circuit to allow the operator to adjust raking height from the seat of the tractor. There is also a manual crank that allows you to set the rake pitch.

Compact transport

With a transport width of 6.7 ft (2 m), the RR140’s perimeter guarding on both sides folds directly up and the 11 arms hook into storage locations on the tongue. This provides ability to transport down narrow roads and through gate openings.

The right hay rake for the job

The right hay rake for the job

Though it’s a simple, low-cost implement on most operations, the hay rake can have a big influence on your forage crop, its value and overall quality. It’s important to select and operate the right type of rake for both the crop you produce and the environment in which it’s raised.

Why Jerry Kuhbacher switched to the Vermeer 2800 twin rake

Jerry Kuhbacher and his two sons own roughly 11,000 acres (4451.5 ha) of land in the northeast corner of Wyoming. With all that land to cover, the Kuhbachers decided a few years back to move from a 16-ft (4.9-m) cut to 18-ft (5.5-m) swaths. It was then that they took a look at the Vermeer R2800.

Twin basket rakes: a case study for quality and baleage

Just about every hay producer uses a rake, and for a common purpose: to windrow hay for more efficient baling and to maximize overall per-acre output. If you’ve had the same rake for years, and it continues to get the job done, you may ask yourself why you should see what else is available.
