As the General Manager, you will be directly responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy with regards to business development and the operations of the day to day business of the corporation. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement high quality, "best cost"manufacturing, materials and logistics strategies, and building and leading the team to sustain world-class performance. Identify with, show dedication, and communicate to employees Vermeer’s philosophy of principles, people, product and profit.
  • Lead, develop and supervise team in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, evaluation, scheduling work activities, discipline and discharge. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the Organization’s business strategies and objectives. 
  • Serve as primary communication conduit between Vermeer and the subsidiaries.  Provide regular updates on the state of the business to the Board of Directors. Partner with corporate leadership to ensure adequate planning for future operational needs, including but not limited to technology, facilities, equipment, product, etc.
  • Oversee all aspects of the office and manufacturing facility, including day-to-day technical and administrative operations and performance of all projects.  Actively lead and manage the operations to ensure successful performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale. 
  • Create supply base of purchased components, fabricated parts and machined parts in order to achieve cost targets; manage validation testing as required.
  • Monitor government regulations and update operations to comply with any government regulations.  Maintain essential relationships within the government and industry to impact Vermeer’s top line growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Business and/or related field is required.  MBA preferred.  Minimum 7 years experience at the senior management level with at least 3 years experience in China’s international business environment.
  • Strong technical background in manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, product development, and/or engineering; and/or equivalent combination of education/experience, required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin and English language is required.  Knowledge of Chinese culture and business practices is a plus.
  • Demonstration of technical skills, including math, engineering, science, computer applications, market research, reading and working with financial statements, developing business plans & engineering processes.
  • A motivated team leader with solid people skills.
