The Training & Development Specialist designs, develops, implements and evaluates training and development programs based on strategic needs assessments and gap analysis. This role focuses on developing and facilitating service training programs for industrial dealership technicians and service managers. The T&D Specialist develops training curriculum in partnership with content experts within the Organization to create, develop and format training materials for a variety of delivery methods; facilitates and performs training according to training plan; coordinates, designs and facilitates dealership training events; evaluates and improves the effectiveness of existing training and development programs utilizing assessment and evaluation tools linked to adult learning models and policy deployment; develops and maintains certification programs to meet the needs of Vermeer and the industrial dealership organization.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders including industrial dealership service technicians, segment service departments, technical writers, production, and suppliers to assess the customer’s learning needs and develop plans based on those needs, directional alignment and policy deployment initiatives.
  • Promote training events and programs to internal and external stakeholders in order to maximize the attendance and participation in those programs.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement events and the Vermeer Expect The Best Program.
  • Evaluate and select materials from external sources.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Applied Sciences such as Diesel Technology or Heavy Equipment Technology.
  • Education or Communications with 5+ years of related industry experience preferred; and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience, required.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical equipment systems, heavy equipment operation, and camera and projection equipment is a must.
  • Facilitation skills, knowledge of adult learning methodology, human performance technology, education, evaluation, test construction and analysis and an understanding of lean manufacturing principles are extremely important.
  • This role requires 25-40% travel per year.
