The EH&S (Safety) Engineer is responsible to integrate health and safety engineering and administrative principles into each manufacturing facility through effective communication of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NEC and IOSHA requirements. This role strives to coordinate employee safety training, management coaching, audits and incident evaluations. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support management by spending time on the shop floor training employees on industrial hygiene services, audits, JSA/LOTO/confined space procedures, incident evaluations,  machine guarding concerns, ergonomic and stretching programs.
  • Provide safety training for all facilities in the area of safety, ergonomics and behavioral-based safety programs.
  • Investigate injuries to employees and assist with facility workers’ compensation claims administration to reduce cost and lost time.
  • Advise Managers, Facility on their role as leaders in the area of safety. Assist with all OSHA reportable accident investigations and serious near miss incidents. Ensure all OSHA required written programs are complete, current and up-to-date.
  • Provide facility compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, NIOSH and all other regulated safety boards standards.
  • Evaluate safety engineering recommendations for technical accuracy, feasibility and value engineering. Review new and existing equipment and facility modifications/installations for compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
  • Interface with insurance companies and emergency personnel on safety and fire-related matters.  Manage all aspects of statistical analysis for tracking and prevention of on-the-job injuries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field with 2-5 years previous experience in safety including the application of fall protection, industrial hygiene sampling, and overhead hoist safety required. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA 300 log with worker’s name and injury and medical treatment.
  • Demonstration of effective investigative skills to determine root cause and prevention of safey issues, e.g., injury rates/Safe R + Behavioral Safety Success program.
  • Provide constructive feedback to fellow employees in a tactful manner; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints with innovative solutions; ability to be informative and provide professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.
